My educational experience is some what varied. I have been substitute teaching for two years now. Before this, I worked as a tutor for beginning algebra and geometry and a recent volunteer to the "Every ones a Reader" program for San Diego county. Long ago I worked as a preschool teacher.
Personal experiences: being the youngest of ten siblings I changed my first diaper at the age of seven. I have been a baby sitter through out my life and worked closely with my nieces and nephews. I taught most of them their ABC's , how to count and identify their colors. Now I have at least 20 great neices and nephews and 10 great, great neices and nephews. My favorite thing is spending time with them and sharing experiences with them.
I applied last year to the credential program, but I did not get in. This year I was accepted and will start the program in the fall. Taking this class is the last of the prerequisites.
I wish to keep abreast with the technology available to the students and be able to guide them in part to their future. A generation gap is invariable, but I can at least be able to introduce them to what is undeniably their future. My hope is to be at least a little more computer literate and offer support to elementary level students. I have acquired many skills, but to truly take-the- bull-by-the-horns is a more proficient level and I hope to advance to this level from taking this class. If not, I will take other classes that will give me the skills I will need.

Your picture is very cool. Your background in education sounds solid and very experienced. I to have worked with "Every ones a Reader" program for Mesa College and Lafeyette Elementary. My experience with a Mac is very minimal. I have only worked with a PC and nothing else. It sounds like you have a tons of compasion for children. I hope all goes well in your future teaching career.

Wow ten kids and I thought we were crowded with five of us. I know what you mean about the diapers, as the oldest I was drafted early for that duty and it remains one of my early childhood memories. Don't worry too much about what you need to learn. There are a whole group us to support each other. I think you are going to be real suprised at the computer literate user you'll be at the end of this class.
ReplyDeleteI like the way you have designed your page! I am hoping to teach 2nd or 3rd grade Elementary. This session, I am taking two pre-reqs and currently working full time. Although, soon, I am going to be a full time student and have much more time to concentrate on my classes! So far this session, I my brain has been reeling! But, none the less I am enjoying being a student again!
